How non-VoIP SMS verification works, step by step
From the crypto top-up to the code on your screen, with what happens when a code does not come.
Step 1: How do I open an account?
Create an account with an email address and a password. No KYC: no ID, no selfie, no documents. The email is used to sign in and to reset your password.
Step 2: How do I top up my balance?
Open Top up, choose an amount from $20 and a coin: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC or TRX. The screen shows the exact amount to send, the network and the address, with a QR code. Each top-up has its own instructions; keep the network shown, because a transfer on another network cannot be matched.
Your balance is credited once the payment is confirmed on the network and matched to the top-up. The screen follows the status by itself: there is no transaction ID to paste and no "I have paid" button.
Step 3: How do I choose a number?
On Get a number, choose the service that will send the code (WhatsApp, Telegram, Google…) and the country of the number. Only numbers online right now can be ordered, and the price is shown before you confirm. Confirming takes the price from your balance and reserves a number.
Pick the country your target service expects. A service built for one market may refuse foreign numbers, whatever their line type.
Step 4: Where does the code appear?
The order page shows the number in international format, a countdown for the reception window and every SMS received. Type the number into the app, ask it to send the code, and the message appears on the order page within the window. Each number has a reception window, shown before you pay. Codes that arrive inside the window appear in your account.
Copy the code from the page into the app. The full text of the SMS is shown too, so you can check it really comes from the service you chose.
What if the code never comes?
If no SMS arrives before the window ends, or the service refuses the number, cancel the order: the price goes back to your balance as credit. You are not charged for a number that received no code.
- The app says the number is invalid or not supported: cancel at once and try another number or another country.
- The app accepts the number but no SMS arrives: ask the app to resend once, then cancel before the window ends.
- The SMS arrives after you cancelled: it cannot be shown, because the number is released when the order is cancelled.
What happens to the number afterwards?
A single-use number is for one code from one service. It is not kept for you afterwards, so do not use it for an account you need to recover later. To keep a US number and receive later codes too, rent it for 7 or 30 days (from $2.25).
Ready to receive a code?
US codes from $0.36, paid from your crypto balance.
Frequently asked questions
Is a non-VoIP number always accepted?
No. A non-VoIP number is classed as mobile in carrier databases, which most sign-up forms accept, but each service sets its own rules and can still refuse a number. If that happens, cancel the order and the price goes back to your balance.
Can I use the same number again later?
A single-use number is for one code from one service. It is not kept for you afterwards, so do not use it for an account you need to recover later. For a number you keep for days or weeks, see the US rentals.
Can I receive voice calls?
No. The numbers receive SMS only. Choose SMS when a service offers a call or an SMS.
Do I need to verify my identity?
No. RealSIM Numbers asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents: an email and a password open an account. The acceptable use policy still applies to every order.
