What should I know about German numbers?

Germany draws a strict line between ranges: the regulator says numbers for mobile services may be used for mobile services only. A +49 15x, 16x or 17x number is therefore a SIM-based line, and internet telephony uses 032 or local landline codes instead.

Every German prepaid SIM has been identity-checked at activation since July 2017. That check applies to the SIM holder; you do not upload any document to us. In October 2026 a German WhatsApp code cost $1.80 at SMSPool and Telegram $2.88.

Frequently asked questions

Are German 032 numbers mobile?

No. 032 numbers are national, location-independent numbers commonly used for internet telephony. Mobile numbers start with 015, 016 or 017.

Do I need a German ID to use a German number?

No. German law requires an identity check when a prepaid SIM is activated; that concerns the SIM holder. You order with an email and a password.

Is a non-VoIP number always accepted?

No. A non-VoIP number is classed as mobile in carrier databases, which most sign-up forms accept, but each service sets its own rules and can still refuse a number. If that happens, cancel the order and the price goes back to your balance.

Do I need to verify my identity?

No. RealSIM Numbers asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents: an email and a password open an account. The acceptable use policy still applies to every order.
